This online seminar was hosted by Professor John Makeham, director of the China Studies Research Centre of La Trobe University. The seminar attracted more than 50 students and scholars from the humanities and social sciences in Australia, Japan, and the United States. The theme of the report is the status of the spread of Mazu culture in Australia, which is a part of the research projects of Dr. Chen Yangbin and Dr. Lin Yihan. This project has been supported by the seed fund of the China Studies Research Centre of La Trobe University in 2019. This is also the first time that Australian Mazu Cultural Research has officially received funding from Australian universities. At the same time, the project also received the support from Professor Chen Zufen, a research expert of Mazu in Putian College, Mazu's hometown. The research has received great attention and participation from related scholars and the society, pushing the spread of Mazu culture in Australia to a new stage.
